Ghost Survival Rule #1: No Ouija Boards

I often watch those TV shows about people who have experienced ghost encounters. In many of the more horrific stories include the people in the haunting using a Ouija Board. Many experts believe that this is the cause of the increase in paranormal activity. They believe that Ouija Boards open up a channel for the ghost or demon to step through. I, personally, don’t know why it is a bad idea, however, I have heard the stories. In every ghost story with a Ouija Board I have heard starts with little strange things, or nothing much at all, happening before the Ouija Board is used, and then after the Ouija Board is used it gets a WHOLE LOT WORSE. Whether it is bad or not, if you think you even might have a ghost in your house, don’t use a Ouija Board. Ever.

Thank you,

A Forgetful Squirrel

March 18, 2011 1 comment

A forgetful squirrel may find a single nut a thousand times, yet cherish every time it finds one. Too often in our lives we forget that a treasure, no matter how many times we see it, is still a treasure and is still as great as when we first got it.

Jumping the Shark

Have you ever heard the phrase “jumping the shark”? The phrase means to do a stunt in a TV show or movie that is too random, or weird, that your show or movie takes a nose dive after that because of that stunt.

For example: say I have a TV show that is a crime drama and I have had a few good seasons. Well, I decide, to get ratings up, I will have one of my characters blow up the White House and then have another one of my characters become president due to the fact my other character blew the president to smithereens and the other character is the vice president. However, this stunt was too big, too out of story, too weird. So now, ironically enough, my show’s ratings plummeted from that point on. This is an example of “jumping the shark.”

Now you know WHAT it is, it’s time to know WHERE it comes from. The phrase “jumping the shark” comes from the sitcom “Happy Days.” The beginning of this phrases life began with the literal jumping of the shark.

The character Fonzie, from Happy Days, was dared to jump a pool with a shark in it. The Fonz then proceeded to “jump the shark.” This was a mistake because, well, it wasn’t a good idea. No one really likes it when the characters of a show do a stunt too big and too weird.

After this, the show was soon canceled and the phrase “jumping the shark” was, and will always be, remembered to symbolize the failed attempted at a stunt that usually leads to cancellation.

Thank you for reading. This is JusticeNWords saying have a good day, and a good night.

A Creature of Feeling

March 1, 2011 1 comment

As human beings, we are all creatures of feelings. Fond memories we cherish all come with a feeling that we felt during that memory.

Feelings make us passionate. When we feel true love we fight for that love, like the love we feel for our significant other or the love we feel for our country. We also become passionate because of strong feelings of hate, anger, and revenge. These feelings will often drive us to do something really bold, which could be great or greatly stupid.

Feelings of sadness drive us to second guess ourselves and our relationships. They cause us to wonder how much of a friend our friends are really. It makes us drag ourselves deeper into sadness.

Feelings of happiness drive us to want to make others happy. Which, in turn, makes them want to make someone else happy. Which, once again, makes THEM want to make people happy. Soon, everyone you know, and everyone they know, will be happy, for at least the time being.

Feelings drive us to be who we are. Good feelings make us want to spread the joy. Passionate feelings of love, as well as hate, make us do passionate things. We are but subjects in our feelings court. We do as they say, and our actions reflect their will, no matter the outcome, and no matter the logic. And yet, would you have it any other way?

Thank you for listening. This is JusticeNWords saying good day, and have a good tomorrow.

Now I am Become Death

March 1, 2011 1 comment

” We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried. Most people were silent. I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita; Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty, and to impress him, takes on his multi-armed form and says, ‘Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.’ I suppose we all thought that, one way or another.”

- J. Robert Oppenheimer

This is a very interesting quote and is my personal favorite. J. Robert Oppenheimer was a theoretical physicist who worked on the infamous Manhattan Project, which was the project which created the atomic bomb. He was speaking about a Hindu scripture that was about Vishnu trying to convince the prince to do his duty and war against his enemies, who were of his ken. The words “Now I am become death, the destroyer of worlds” is in reference to that scripture, and the “Now I am become death” part has become a rather famous line.

Oppenheimer was talking about the Trinity test in his speech above. The Trinity test was a test detonation of a atomic bomb informally nicknamed “Gadget.” The trinity test was conducted on July 16th, 1945, which was known as the beginning of the Atomic Age. The design used for Gadget was also used for the bomb “Fat Man”, which was used on Nagasaki, Japan, on August 9, 1945.

The Words “Now I am become death” still spark a feeling of history. It was the line that signified that the world, from then on, would never be the same. My heart still sinks whenever I hear Oppenheimer say those lines.

I hope you enjoyed. Have a good day, and a good tomorrow.

An Introduction

February 28, 2011 3 comments

Hello! I am JusticeNWords. I thought I should give a quick introduction to what I plan to do here with this blog and a little about my views here.

First off, I would like to explain why I chose the name. You see, I always liked the cleverness in the fake name Silence Dogood, used by Benjamen Franklin when he was young. It was simple but brilliant in its own way. So, in the same spirit, I used the name JusticeNWords. I hope I chose well, and I hope I do, in fact, give justice in my words.

My main reason for this blog here is to share my views and my opinions with the world, because I feel that a voice, every voice, needs to be heard. So what I want to do is share my views on politics, philosophy, history, current events and other topics. Because I am not always a philosophical person I will also bring humor and, when agitated to a point, a bit of angry rantings. So don’t be surprised if you visit one day and read a passionate telling of my views on politics and then flip over to another post and see me cracking jokes. Sorry, I’m a bit random like that.

Lastly, I want to state that, unlike MANY of the general population of those who usually get heard (in this list I include the band Green Day, Marylin Manson, and others, not only bands and singers but bloggers and actors), I WILL NEVER USE CURSES (aside from occasional reference to hell and damnation, just for poetic reasons, not biblical). In contrast to what most believe, the use of curses will not give a point more strength, in fact, I feel they only diminish the power of your words. By using curses, the writer of the post lets the readers know that he can only find one way of relaying a sense of feeling. Not once did Patrick Henry use a swear in his famous “Give me liberty or give me death” speech, nor did Benjamin Franklin ever once drop the “F” bomb in any of his Silence Dogood letters.

So now I say thank you for visiting this time and for reading this introduction, and I hope you visit again. Good day, and have a good tomorrow.
